  • May 8-10, 2008:  “Churches by Size” Seminar will be held at Christ UMC, 410 N. Holden Road on May 8-9 from 7-9 pm and Saturday May 10 from 9-11 am.
  • May 10, 2008:  Michael and Nicholas Hill, the sons of proud parents, Quinton and Peggy Hill, and grandsons of Willie Mae Jones, are graduating from NC A&T State University on Saturday, May 10 at 8:00 a.m.  The Bass Chapel congregation is invited to the Commencement at the Greensboro Coliseum.
  • May 11, 2008: The United Methodist Women’s annual Mother’s Day Program will be held on Sunday, May 11 at 11:00 worship service. memory book ads are $50.00 for a full page, $25.00 for a half page and $12.50 for a quarter page. Special ad rates will be offered for children, youth and teens. Please contact Phyllis Dudley or Shirley Rascoe by April 27th.
  • May 13, 2008:  Pastor Larry is conducting one night of Revival at St. Stephen UCC on Tuesday evening, May 13.  The BC choir, ushers and congregation will be going with him.  The service will begin at 7:00 p.m.
  • May 16, 2008: There will be a Fellowship Fish Fry sponsored by the Pastor Parish Relations Committee on Friday May 16, 2008. Please come out and enjoy this time and fellowship. There will be no cost.
  • May 18, 2008:  The UMW of Peace UMC in Summerfield are having an exciting luncheon program entitled, “Healthy Body and Soul” on Sunday, May 18 at 2:30 p.m.
  • May 20, 2008:  The Blessed Table Food Pantry regular monthly meeting will be on Tuesday evening, May 20 at 6:30 p.m.  The meeting will be held at Bessemer UMC.

In As Much is a ministry of area churches in Guilford County, INASMUCH is an ecumenical Christian group yoked together to provide food and clothing to the less fortunate.

Website Information

Welcome the the Bass Chapel website. Information about the church can be found under the “Welcome” page. Address, phone, and map information is listed in the “About” page.

The site is maintained using the WordPress, which is open source software primarily designed for Blog websites. The software is easy to use and offers many functions that allows visitors to interact with the content on this website.

We now have four primary areas on the site, Pages, Posts, Downloads, and Podcasts.

We will use the “Pages” to supply static information like the address, welcome, leadership and history.

The “Posts” will provide general information and specific topics that visitors can respond to. To view a post click on the “Category of interest. A summary of the posts in that category will be displayed. To view the complete post click on the “Blue Title Header“. To respond to a post or to submit a new post, you have to register. The registration link is listed under “Meta. The webmaster will determine if a comment or new post will be displayed.

We will provide text or audio items of interest for “Download“. Currently there is a test file of my dad, Willie Mitchell, singing a song titled Glory.

We also hope to provide copies of the pastor’s sermons in Podcast format for visitors to either play or download. We are currently using PodPress software to present the audio files. To play a file just click on the arrow in the circle graphic.

If you have questions please use the “Contact” form. Currently your input will be sent to the webmaster. After we go active on this site, this information will be sent to Pastor Larry.

News items will be listed as a “Post” and updated whenever we receive new information. You are welcome to submit new information by post or you can use the contact form.

The pictures on the site banner came from the site theme and also from pictures that I took of the church. I would be happy to receive pictures of people or activities concerning Bass Chapel or Christian related activities in the Greensboro area.

PARISH ANNOUNCEMENTS

Western NC Conference Martin Luther King, Jr. celebration will be held on Saturday, January 19 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Paul UMC, W-S.

BC Older Adult Ministry will meet on Saturday, January 19 at 12:00 p.m.

Older Adult Ministry will meet at St. Gales’ assisted Living on Wednesday, January 23 at 11:00 a.m.

Ash Wednesday Service will be held at Metropolitan UMC on Wednesday, February 6 at 7:00 p.m. Pastor Larry is the speaker and Bass Chapel Choir will be providing the music.

Wednesday Bible studies will be held every Wednesdays at 12:00 & 7:00 p.m. during Lent. Our first study will be at St. Stephen UCC on Wednesday, February 13.

District Leadership School will take place on Sunday, February 10 from 2:30-5:00 p.m. at Christ UMC.

Bass Chapel Black History Program and Dinner will be held on Sunday, February 17 at 4:00 p.m.
